This awesomely unique Peru comes to us from importers Que Onda, and we’re stoked to kick off our relationship with such an amazing coffee.
Peruvian coffees from the Puno region are some of the most highly prized and unique specialty coffees in the world, with common notes of tropical fruits like pineapple and passionfruit, orange, black cherry, caramel and milk chocolate. Juicy, complex and completely unique - yum.
The valleys of Sandia, in the Puno region, are widely recognised for their excellent coffee-growing conditions. Surrounded by mountains and fed by permanent rivers, the area benefits from a unique combination of tropical influence and cool, high-altitude temperatures.
This environment creates ideal conditions for slow cherry development. The predominantly cool climate causes the coffee to mature gradually, resulting in dense beans with high sugar accumulation, a key factor in cup clarity and sweetness.
